Chapter 1.  A Brief Time About History

     Detroit has said a lot about how undesirable, or inconsequential electric cars are, but we all know that auto executives don't always tell the truth.  This introductory chapter reinforces our instinctive distrust of auto executives by reviewing some egregious and tragic lapses in credibility and accountability -- from the incendiary Ford Pinto to Ford's selection of cheap, C-rated tires for their Explorer.
