     The public expects universities to conduct accurate, comprehensive and unbiased research and that's exactly why Detroit looks for opportunities to sponsor and then influence "independent" university research.  Any corporation with millions of dollars of grant money to hand out can eventually find an intellectually-dishonest researcher somewhere who wouldn't mind cashing in on the stature of his university -- at least once . . . .
